It feels like just yesterday that I was constantly flooded with advertisements for Disney and LifeTech’s educational game, Codeillusion. Almost every website and social platform I navigated sprinkled its glittering pixie dust, promising a gateway to new career opportunities through learning.

As a millennial with a nostalgic penchant for Disney and a sparking interest in programming — particularly web development and UI/UX design — their ads fulfilled their purpose. Eventually, I invested in them to further my knowledge of the subject. My high school Web Design teacher, Mr. Moreno, and my forgotten, abandoned MySpace site would be proud.

Initially, I was so excited that I tried my best to play it for a couple of weeks as often as possible. Soon, juggling two jobs made it challenging for me to diligently keep at it and make progress. On days off, I can barely manage errands, tending to my furbabies and plants, house chores, and recharging my mental, social, and physical batteries. Ultimately, Codeillusion found itself stacked in the closet of unfinished pursuits.

That was until unsettling news in early Spring urged me to resume it and attempt to finish it quickly.
