[#ThrowbackThursday]

KPop veteran singer, BoA, celebrated the 20th anniversary of her debut last Tuesday, August 25th.

Throughout her career, the Atlantis Princess singer has remained loyal to the agency that discovered her and launched her to stardom, SM Entertainment. The agency has been celebrating her all month by releasing covers of some of her iconic songs performed by today’s hottest artists.

BoA’s third Korean studio album, “Atlantis Princess,” debuted at number 1 in the Korean Top 50 charts and became the country’s 4th best-selling album of 2003 with nearly 400,000 copies sold in South Korea alone.

On May 30th, 2003, BoA released her third Korean studio album, Atlantis Princess. Its high anticipation and BoA’s popularity at the time landed its debut at no. 1 in the Korean Top 50 chart. By the end of the year, Atlantis Princess had sold nearly 400,000 copies in South Korea, making it the country’s 4th best-selling album.

The first part of the project began with EXO’s BaekHyun rendition of “Garden in the Air.” It was then followed by BOL4’s “Atlantis Princess,” which is still topping music charts, an English version of “Only One” by Gallant, and Red Velvet’s version of “Milky Way.

For the final part of the anniversary project, “Our Beloved BoA,” SM Entertainment chose yet another track from Atlantis Princess to cover. The album’s third track, “Tree” or “나무,” was performed by SM Classics TOWN Orchestra, and the music video shows clips of BoA’s career journey. The single was released on August 28th.

The piece starts with a soft piano by BoA’s older brother, pianist Kwon SoonHwon, that carries the first half of the track. Midway through the song, the trombone eases in to add some deep feels, followed by delicate flutes that welcome the rest of the orchestra and chills down my spine — the good kind of chills.

Check out the original version of the song:

Although there is no word around about a new BoA single, there will be a special V Live Event at 6 PM KST on the 3rd. (4 AM CST on the 3rd)

Congratulations to BoA!
