NCT 127: New Album, Breaks Records, Rodeo Houston, and 2020 North American Tour
[#TewsdayNewsday]
It’s a busy time for one of SM Entertainment’s hottest boy bands, NCT 127, as they released their 2nd full-length studio album, “NEO ZONE” and will be making history in the US, again, by being the first kpop act at the Houston Rodeo’s famous rotating concert lineup.
With no plans or announcements of the concert being cancelled due to the spread of COVID-19, Houstonians are very excited to see them perform tonight and promote the release of their new album.
The track title, “영웅 (英雄; Kick It),” has steadily remained at the top of the charts, and why wouldn’t it? Its hard rock notes and aggressive chorus, along with complex martial-arts-inspired choreography, has made it quite popular among netizens, gathering more than 10M views on YouTube in just three days.
“NEO ZONE” physical album was released in three different limited-edition versionsㅡN, C, and Tㅡand they all have unique packaging, photos and exclusive content. They received more than 530,000 pre-orders and, on the first day of release, 184,791 copies were sold, breaking their own record of first-day sales.
After tonight’s performance at the Houston Rodeo, the NCT subunit is scheduled to begin rehearsals for their upcoming 2020 North American Tour, which will kick off on June 5th at Madison Square in New York.
So far, my favorite song from the album is “백야” or “White Night,” which is a ballad about trying to forget the person they want to break up with and getting closure on their own.
Did you know they were the first kpop act to perform at the Thanksgiving Macy’s Parade in NYC last year?
