The COVID19 pandemic has taken away many types of social activities we enjoy — among them, concerts. In an effort to keep the entertainment industry alive and safely bring artists and fans together, two of South Korea’s big three entertainment companies, SM Entertainment and JYP Entertainment, have joined forces to start an online concert company.

Korea’s IT giant, Naver, and SM Entertainment signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in April to collaborate in global promotions. Together they launched “Beyond LIVE,” an online concert streaming service, and the first group to stream a concert through this platform was the SM Entertainment’s boy group, SuperM.

The online concert experience takes your favourite KPop artists’ live performances to your home through AR technology (augmented reality) for an experience like no other. Other groups that have already joined fans through their screens are TVXQ, Super Junior, WayV, NCT Dream and NCT 127

Fast-forward to this month, on the 4th of August, SM and JYP, announced the establishment of Beyond LIVE Corporation (BLC), the first company of its kind to focus in online concerts. Along with Naver, BLC combines Naver’s technology, SM’s content producing abilities and JYPs global network to reach an ever-growing global audience.

The latest concert held via Beyond LIVE was JYP Entertainment’s girl group, TWICE, on the 9th of August.

Who’s concert do you want to see next via Beyond LIVE?
