#TewsdayNewsday — OVAN Accused of Chart Manipulation
[#TewsdayNewsday]
On Thursday, rapper OVAN released a new single titled “어떻게 지내” or “I Need You,” which quickly climbed up to number one on Genie’s realtime music chart the day of its release. Though this may sound like great news, he has been receiving backlash by being accused of somehow manipulating the charts, which knocked off BTS’ “ON,” IU’s “Give You My Heart,” and Zico’s “Any Song.”
OVAN, who’s birth name is Jo KangSeok, even took to the social media platform, Instagram, to respond to the rumours via Instagram Stories.
“I don’t want to be hurt, and I don’t want to hate anybody. It’s not a lie. I’m sorry that I’m someone who is doubted because I’m not worthy. I’m sorry, but it’s not a lie.”

Unfortunately, this is not the first time OVAN deals with these sort of rumours. Back in 2018, he was accused of chart manipulation when his single “TWENTY (feat. Shaun)” quickly climbed up the charts.
Anyway, the song has a bright melody in contrast to its lyrics, where OVAN talks about missing someone after a breakup and fantasising about seeing them again.
Ovan debuted in 2017 with the EP “과일 (VIRGIN LOVE).”
